![]() ![]() I know models holding footballs is a hot topic, but I don’t mind personally and I think it helps to distinguish Blood Bowl players from other fantasy warrior miniatures, especially in the case of conversions. I trimmed him away from his scenic base and swapped his sword for the hand from a thrower. Ever since Warhammer Underworlds: Beastgrave came out, I thought this model could make for a wood elf star player conversion. You can get a hint of what my color scheme will be for my future Old World Alliance team by checking out the helmet stuck in the treeman’s branches.Īnd finally another star player conversion. That way I can use the humans, dwarves and halflings I acquired for Blitz Bowl and turn them into an Old World Alliance team for Blood Bowl. Originally I had intended to use the wood elfy helmet on the treeman, but when I got Blitz Bowl 2 and a halfling bzb team for my birthday I decided to leave the mask off. ![]() That is to say a white aspen tree, but instead of fall colors like my sylvaneth warband, to do regular spring/summer green leaves, in this way it would fit in with the white and green colors of my wood elf team but with a more natural look. I decided to paint up my treeman in a similar style to my Warhammer Underworlds sylvaneth warband (which is another covid-19 project i completed in 2020 that I don’t think I’ve blogged about yet … I’ll have to rectify that). It was the treeman’s release that got me motivated to finish the team. Linemen can also make incredibly good users of Sneaky Git to foul and then run away with their agility. After finishing the initial 12 players, I always meant to go back and round out the roaster with some more players and I knew some day GW would release a treeman but it took more than a year for it to come out. Your Elves are still capable of dishing out some damage, and having a killer Blitzer with Tackle and Mighty Blow can gain you the advantage against many foes. Nevertheless, simply throwing players isolated downfield like NFL receivers will not pay dividends in Blood Bowl as your opponent will very likely maim them before the ball ever arrives, so you will still need to follow some principles of screening and careful positioning so that they have a chance to safely receive the ball. Starting out, you will not have enough Catchers to really exploit this, but any of your team can be a catcher when the situation calls. On offense, Union does have a legitimate passing attack, with very high percentage success on the thrower-to-catcher connection, and the catcher's Nerves Of Steel allows them to snag the ball even in traffic. ![]() As your team develops, you will be able to build some very effective long-range ball-hawks and can be more aggressive in trying to pressurize opponents, particularly at kick-off, where a deep kick can really cause slower and less agile opponents to struggle. You will need to play patiently and try and frustrate your opponent by limiting their block and blitz targets while waiting for a mistake. On defense, your default approach will be the double-column screen. You cannot go toe-to-toe with opponents and must master the art of dodging away from them, both on offense and defense, to keep your players safe and mobile. After all your spending you have 25k left over, which lets you add two additional Dedicated Fans and will be very helpful for your subsequent development.Įlven Union is the classic low-armor, high-agility team. One upside of this roster is that you can start with 3 Team Re-rolls, which is more than most other Elven teams can manage. These lightly-armored but agile players will have to do the grunt work of screening and shielding your playmakers. In time you will want as many Catchers as you can, as they have enormous development potential. This build only finds room for one Thrower and one Catcher. These two will be your workhorses and can pretty much do it all. Block is an enormously important skill for all players, especially when starting out, while Sidestep will provide positional value again and again. The two most important players are the Blitzers. Union has many expensive positionals, which means your starting lineups will have to forego some players you will definitely want down the line. ![]()
